Day 1: Kigali – Scenic Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Your adventure begins with a personalized pick-up from Kigali International Airport or your city hotel by your professional Fruits of Hope Adventure Tours guide. After a brief orientation, settle into your luxury 4×4 vehicle for a scenic drive southwest to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a journey of about 5 to 6 hours through Rwanda’s enchanting landscapes.
Along the way, enjoy a cultural stop at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza, where you’ll explore traditional Rwandan architecture and the royal Inyambo cows, known for their majestic horns. After lunch in Huye (Butare) at a refined countryside restaurant, continue through rolling tea plantations and misty hills until you arrive at your luxury lodge nestled near the forest.
Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Relax on your private terrace, enjoy a sunset drink overlooking the forest or indulge in a massage before dinner. Your guide will brief you about the chimpanzee tracking experience scheduled for the following morning.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe – Canopy Walk – Transfer to Kigali
Rise before dawn and enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a short briefing. You’ll then embark on an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking adventure in either the Cyamudongo or Uwinka sector of Nyungwe. Accompanied by skilled trackers and rangers, you’ll journey deep into the rainforest, surrounded by the sounds of birds, rustling leaves and distant primate calls.
Once you locate the chimps, you’ll spend a magical hour observing them as they swing through the trees, forage and interact in their natural environment. The experience is intimate and thrilling, offering a close encounter with one of our closest animal relatives.
After the trek, return to the lodge for a hot shower and a hearty brunch. Later, take on the Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a suspended bridge walk through the treetops offering panoramic views of the forest and a unique perspective on the ecosystem.
In the afternoon, check out and begin your return drive to Kigali, arriving by evening. Check into your Kigali hotel or continue straight to your next destination depending on your preference.

Day 3: Kigali – Transfer to Akagera National Park – Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, depart Kigali and begin your journey east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah wildlife park and home to the Big Five. The 2.5-hour drive takes you through open countryside and gentle hills until you reach the park’s southern gate. Upon arrival, check into your luxury lodge and enjoy a gourmet lunch overlooking the plains or Lake Ihema.
In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive, exploring the park’s diverse habitats including woodland, swamps and open savannah. With your expert guide, search for elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, warthogs and possibly lions or rhinos. The late afternoon hours are ideal for spotting animals gathering near waterholes.
Return to your lodge at sunset and enjoy a private dinner under the stars with sounds of the wild in the background.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Lake Ihema Boat Safari – Return to Kigali
Start your final day with a sunrise game drive, when wildlife is most active. With your guide’s sharp eye, explore the northern plains of Akagera, where you’re likely to encounter herds of elephants, towers of giraffes and prides of lions amidst the golden grasses.
After returning to the lodge for breakfast, prepare for a mid-morning boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birdlife, including African fish eagles, herons and kingfishers. This tranquil water-based safari offers a different perspective of the park and a relaxing way to end your wild adventure.
After the boat trip, enjoy a farewell lunch at the lodge, then check out and begin your drive back to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight, depending on your schedule.
